Canterbury Race 1 – 4 Ryker

TRIAL COMMENTS

RYKER - Settled fourth. Worked home well in between runners and did so under very little pressure. Nice trial and improved performances this prep with the new stable would not surprise whatsoever.

SUMMARY

Tiny field of five but an interesting race nonetheless.

Loved the trial of RYKER on October 2 prior to a very good second behind the smart Happy Clapper at the geldings first run for Peter and Paul Snowden. Have plenty of time for Happy Clapper and he trialled impressively leading in so I think the form stacks up very well.

Think RYKER can springboard off that first-up run and be very hard to beat here. Concern for the 5YO is whether the track gets to a genuine Heavy as he has failed twice in it before.

Ryker is now with the Snowdens and can win Picture: Racing and Sports
He was beaten by 11.7 lengths on debut when in the market on a Heavy 8 at Randwick. His next run on a heavy wasn’t actually too bad when beaten by under 4 lengths to Gypsy Diamond in the Group 3 Carbine Club.

I think that was more of a case of him not running a strong 1600m than the track. If he handles the conditions well he is the horse to beat.

The danger is SLOTS who was very good when third last start last Saturday behind I Can Rock. On the quick back up and up to 1250m looks ideal for her.
