NEW SOUTH WALES

SR 3: Gai Waterhouse's Fastnet Rock filly (5) DRIEFONTEIN has been served up at short odds on the strength of her easy Randwick trial win over 734m in fast time. To quote Gai her work has been “outstanding” and the stable obviously rates her highly. She was ready for the trial where the pair she beat (9) VARANASI and (3) BOUSQUET looked open to improvement in condition. Another smart trial winner was the Lonhro youngster (4) DIAMOND START at Warwick Farm where she beat (7) LADY CORLEONE. (2) BENEDICTUS and (6) EMPRESS ELECT were placed in the same 900m heat at Rosehill with both having plenty to offer on the line.

SR 4: Newcastle mare (5) CHEAP THRILLS is good fresh and should be ready to perform after an easy second in a Broadmeadow trial on 25 October. (6) MORE THAN ROYAL prepared for her return with a third in a Warwick Farm heat over 800m on 14 October where she showed her usual pace.

SR 7: Key trial from (1) INGHAM MAGIC after she had to satisfy there were no issues after her last start failure. Did enough to win a three horse heat over 900m at Rosehill beating (3) MICKELBERG narrowly in a good pointer to their chances here. Scone filly (2) CHARM'S HONOUR has talent and will not doubt have come on from her unplaced trial at Newcastle on 25 October.

SR 8-8 MIGHTY OBVIOUS (John McNair): Is a first-up winner who resumes off a Gosford trial win on 17 October.

VICTORIA

MR 1-9 DORMELLO (Gai Waterhouse): Gai has one heading to the Maribynong Plate. She loves the More Than Ready's and this is out of a G1 winner in Cinque Cento, so you'd think this colt might have something after a third in a Cranbourne trial.

QUEENSLAND

BR 4-1 KING OF THE KONGO (Steele Ryan): North Queenslander who has won some country class races but then got to win the rich Open Hcp at Townsville in July. Has trialled well at Deagon winning nicely. Is an 8yo though.

BR 5-2 MR FAVULOUS (Donald Baker): After a solid 2yo campaign which included being placed at Listed level, he had a good break and has trialled into second on his home and won brilliantly first up last time.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

AR 2-6 ANY DESTINATION (Mark Kavanagh): Expensive yearling making debut form leading yard. Given an easy trial late last month. Should run well in this small field.

AR 7-6 CORNISH (Michael Hickmott): Interesting runner coming over from Lloyd Williams. He was in Sea The Stars Arc in 2009. Has had two trials in South Australia, the latter much better.
