NEW SOUTH WALES

SR 1-1 GAZZA GURU (Stephen Farley): Missed a race in his program when the Taree Cup was abandoned. Made up for it when he won a Newcastle trial over 900m in heavy ground on 24 August. Going well.

SR 2: Resuming pair (4) ASHLEE'S JEWEL and (1) OUR BILLY BLUE met in the same Warwick Farm trial over 1200m on 26 August. Ashlee's Jewel was given a solid test to win the trial while Our Billy Blue did it easily for fourth. Both have winning fresh form. (6) TOM'S ROCKET is also under a watch after he trialled easily when fourth in another heat on the same day.

SR 3: Good Newcastle stable renowned for first-up kills brings (1) OAKFIELD BEAUTY to town first-up off a Broadmeadow trail win over 800m on 24 August. The biggest query runner of the day is the unbeaten (6) INDISCRETIONS who makes her return off a soft third in an 800m heat at WF on 26 August.

SR 4: The classy (1) DECISION TIME obviously looks ready to resume in top form after his good 800m trial win at Warwick Farm on 26 August. (8) OBSEQUIOUS ran slightly slower time but went just as good winning her heat on the same day. (3) MOTSPUR had had six weeks off but had a clean out when second in a Broadmeadow trial on 24 August with (9) PRINCE BRAEMAN third. The new trainer of (4) MONTON Ron Quinton looks to have given him sufficient work topped off by his strong second in a Randwick 800m trial on 19 August.

SR 6: Not a lot has been asked of the top Group One horses (1) MY KINGDOM OF FIFE and (4) MALUCKYDAY in their recent trials but they have done enough to ensure they will be competitive under these favourable WFA conditions first-up.

SR 7-3 COCKY RAIDER (David Payne): Wasn't asked to match Foxwedge in his 2 August trial at Rosehill but it will have brought him on with the benefit of a month of work since that trial.

SR 8: A trip to the Randwick trails on 19 August showed Stradbroke winner (3) SINCERO was right on his game for his return, hitting the line as expected for a strong second over 1067m. Some of the old spark was evident when (1) ALL SILENT picked up his game to win a 1200m trial at Warwick Farm on 26 August by a convincing two lengths while the return of Brisbane Cup winner (9) TULLAMORE will be noted after he held his ground well for second in 1250m heat at Randwick on 19 August.

NSW TRIALLERS RACING INTERSTATE:

MR 6-4 MALUCKYDAY (Hawkes Partnership): Just went around at Rosehill for some practice in mid August but as yet hasn't stepped out this Spring in a proper race. We know he just loves Flemington so it will be interesting to see if he can do it over a mile. Also entered at Warwick Farm.

MR 6-15 ONCE WERE WILD (Gai Waterhouse): She has had two trials and more workouts leading into her first go this Spring. She can take a run to get ready but you just want to see she's got that love for racing.

VICTORIA

MR 2-8 THAT'S THE ONE (Colin/Cindy Alderson): After scoring two nice wins and one over this very trip, he's had a nice trial to tick over at Cranbourne, winning it with Craig Williams in the saddle perhaps sounding him out as a Spring hope.

MR 7-2 TOORAK TOFF (Rick Hore-Lacy): The Golden Rose winner of a year ago is back now looking for a stud again. Hasn't had luck since then and did won a trial over decent horses on 22 August.

MR 7-3 ALOHA (Mick Price): G1 winning mare who won a trial Cranbourne two weeks back. She was very creditable against the open age/sex horses at the highest level and would be of no surprise to contend first up. Similarly to her stable mate MR 7-14 DUBLEANNY did the job in her clean out to be ready for the resumption. She just loves the straight here and might have this race more suited to her.

MR 7-5 YOSEI (Stuart Webb): While the mare is unlikely to be right there down the straight, she will probably be more suited to the G1s at Caulfield. Hence she should be pretty forward after the Qld winter and trial.

QUEENSLAND

BR 1-1 POOR JUDGE (Wayne Nugent): After being placed in the G1 Toorak behind More Joyous and winning the G3 on Derby day, he had a disappointing Autumn. Perhaps he has turned that around going by the strong trial win at Toowoomba. Could he be on the way back?

BR 1-2 ROTHERA (Ben Currie): Another Queenslander who scored a group win over the Victorian carnival last year. He loves it wet which could be important but his comeback trial is exactly like previous efforts when he just goes around for practice.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

AR 1-2 EL MAGICO (Lloyd Kennewell): After scoring a big win on debut at Balaklava, went for a spell then had a trial at Gawler last week. This looks an interesting race.

AR 7-5 HAPPY TRAILS (Paul Beshara): Went to another level when fourth in the Carbine Club in Sydney then second to Shootoff in the Packer Plate with the form showing up later on. He won a Gawler trial and meets a decent field.
