Last outing there was a dramatic moment when Better Then Ever clipped heels and had to be pulled out of the race.
Everyone feared the worst but fortunately the horse was OK and on Sunday night has the chance to prove it in the Punters' Way 35th Anniversary Cup Cl. 1 over 1400m.
Black Ice who was the surprise winner in the Better Than Ever on 22nd April was coming home well when tackling Rocket Man last Sunday and this extra distance will suit. Arrowana Dot Com won at his last outing beating Flying Fulton over the 1600m. The Commedian is a nice horse returning after a break so we may save him for next time.
Race 8 on Sunday is the Open Benchmark 97 over 1200m where the honest Capablanca has top weight and the talented My Son the light weight. Both have genuine claims and put in Mr Timely and Finderskeeper for the multiples.
On Friday there is an interesting race for the babies - The Magic Millions National Yearling Sales Open (6th leg) with a substantial bonus being available for the winning horse that is qualified. It's over 1000m on the AWT and many of these are having their first start. We prefer those that have had a race already so that means Rising Empire who ran second on debut as did Smart Dragon, with Dragon Wish and Keeping the Faith others who have had a start. Red River Rock is supposed to be very promising but we will watch him this time.
