Williams comes and conquers at Kranji

Globe trotting jockey Craig Williams flew into Singapore for a couple of rides on Sunday and left with a first and a third in the features.

The first of the features was the G3 Kranji Sprint, second leg of the Singapore Sprint series, and this went to the 2yo champion of 2011 Mr Big, trained by Michael Freedman and getting a nice ride from Stephen Baster. Favourite Ato was not disgraced in second, and Williams got the other Freedman runner Masthead to run on strongly for third after being in a pocket for a while. The weight was too much for Better Than Ever.

Williams earned his fee on Nandowra in the Moonbeam Vase in a thrilling finish with Silveron Wings when he had to push Nandowra right out to just get the verdict with Chase Me right in the thick of it and getting third - distances were a short head and a short head. Aserious enjoyed the wet track and ran fourth.
