Eishin Apollon wins Kyoto Mile Championship

Eishin Apollon, by Giant's Causeway out of a Sadler's Wells mare, followed up his win in the Fuji stakes on soft ground with a win here.

He was drawn in gate 5, and made full use of that advantage. The second home, Fifth Petal, came from

gate 1. But defying all that was Sahpresa, who made a huge run down the outside under Christophe

Lemaire to take the 3rd place money. Fellow French runner the filly Immortal Verse was out the back

early and didn't really do anything, neither did last year's winner A Shin Forward.
