Lizarre stands up in Singapore

The Mandai Classic Open, often seen as a lead up to the Singapore Gold Cup, was a fine win for Lizarre, the South African bred son of Jet Master.

It was a tight finish with Honest Broker second and Gordon Roberts, who had led for most of the race,

staying on for third. Martial Art ran fourth and was running on well and probably not helped by lack of

pace in the race.

Race 8 the Open Benchmark 97 over 1000m saw former kiwi Coup Align break through for his first

Singapore win. Mr Timely was second and Primera Espada third, and Powerful Ruler fourth.

On Friday Captain Obvious performed like an obvious choice defeating Ato, Maurice Utrillo and Apache

Crown in the Kranji A over 1400m.
