Blue Bunting raises the flags

Godolphin's Blue Bunting scored a convincing win in the Yorkshire Oaks Thursday to add a third G1 to her CV.

Ridden patiently by Frankie Dettori she remained towards the rear of the action until Dettori brought her

down the inside track (hitherto unpopular) and the rest was history. Vita Nova ran a very nice race to

keep the winner honest, with Wonder of Wonders well back in third and just ahead of Crystal Capella,

who was a bit too keen for her own good, and Banimpire who was wide most of the way.

Earlier Best Terms streeted the other 2yos in the Lowther winning by an easy 2 lengths from Fire Lily

and Hello Glory. Favourite Angels Will Fall pulled far too hard, and Gamilati and Shumoos did nothing.

Friday sees the Gimcrack G2 as the first of the big races with 9 2yos to tackle the 1200. Lilbourne Lad

at 11/4 looks set to continue the good run of the Richards in 2yo events and is 11/4. Reply is 7/2,

Burwaaz who also holds an entry for France this weekend is 6/1 and we rather like the look of Justineo,

whose trainer William Haggas won this race last year.

The Strensill G3 for 3y+ has 10 runners and is around 1700m. The Stoute representative Dux Scholar

is 7/2, Western Aristocrat 4/1 with the French jockey Olivier Peslier to ride, and we like Godolphin's

Biondetti her at 7/1.

And then there's the Nunthorpe over the straight 1000m with 17 to run and this is open to 2yos as well

as the older horses, and we think the 2yo Requinto might just be able to steal this with a postage

stamp weight and a jockey who won this last year - he's 13/2 but that nay shorten with last year's

winner Sole Power now out. Hoof It is the main threat at 3/1 and Bated Breath is in the market at 6/1.
