Owner Anthony Oppenheimer outlines Haydock option
Precious Ramotswe is being lined up for a crack at the Bet365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock on July 7.
The John Gosden-trained filly took her record to four wins from five starts in the inaugural running of the Bronte Cup at York on her most recent start.
“We’re very pleased with her, she’s by Nathaniel so she likes the soft ground and found it a bit quick at York,” said owner Anthony Oppenheimer.
“All things being equal, she’ll go for the Lancashire Oaks as she’ll escape a penalty there.
“She was quite smart as a three-year-old because she was galloping with Enable, so we knew she was quite smart. Whether she stays one-mile-six, I’m not sure.
“It was a piece of brilliant riding by Robert Havlin. The race was nine seconds slow so he reduced it from a mile-six to a mile-five or less really, he took up the running then slowed it right down.
“I’m writing to thank him for what I thought was an extremely good ride.
“She’s only lost the once and that was on very heavy ground in France.
“I’ve got her full-sister coming along too. Precious Ramotswe is named after a detective in a book. Her dam, Miss Pinkerton, got her name from a detective agency so I have a feeling the sister could be called Jane Marple.”
