UK: Garswood fired up for Foret

Trainer Richard Fahey is targeting French compensation with Garswood after he blew his chance at the start in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock on Saturday.

The three-year-old held leading claims in the six-furlong Group One on Merseyside as he came back in distance following an impressive display over seven furlongs in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

However, the Dutch Art colt fell out of the stalls and although Garswood made good late headway to finish sixth, he was unable to land a serious blow, so a return to seven furlongs in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on October 6 is next on his agenda.

Fahey said: "He's come out of the race fine. Unfortunately you can give away weight but you can't give away start. We just have to draw a line through it and move on. It's just one of those things.

"He did it (missed the start) a bit in the Guineas, but Ryan (Moore) said he had no issues at all at Goodwood. He was pleased with him.

"We'll move on and the plan now would be to run in the Foret."
