The son of Rahy made little impact in his first two UK starts for Godolphin last October at Newmarket but then underwent an operation for a breathing problem.

He was a different proposition as he burst to the front over a furlong out to score by four lengths from six rivals that included Sir Henry Cecil's much-vaunted World Domination who could beat only one home.

Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said: "He ran well this time. He had a wind operation over the winter that has made a difference.

"The horse showed a good turn of foot. There are no plans for him, but he will improve for his race."

Retrieve won three races in Australia including the G3 Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill and G3 Norman Robinson Stakes at Caulfield and was placed in four G1 races including the Victoria and AJC Derbys.

Godolphin also gave multiple Australian stakes winner Dysphonia her first UK start at Lingfield with the G1 placed mare finishing third in the G3 Chartwell Stakes over seven furlongs.

Dysphonia had finished unplaced in two starts at Meydan in Dubai in February and March on her way to the UK.

Multiple Sydney winner Scarf also raced for Godolphin on Saturday at Haydock Park, finishing fifth in the Listed Spring Trophy over seven furlongs.
