Matt Cameron has made a commitment to ride the South Island filly Another Coup in the Trentham feature on March 14.

The 28-year-old currently leads the premiership with 94 winners in a bid to retain the title he bagged in 2013-14 with a tally of 143.

Cameron has made two recent trips south to partner the Michael and Matthew Pitman-trained Another Coup, first winning an open mile on the Darci Brahma filly and on Thursday at Riccarton they again comprehensively beat the older horses in a Rating 85 event.

“Matt has been booked to ride her in the Oaks so we’re thrilled to have him on again,” Michael Pitman said.

“Obviously, he’s been impressed with her and he said when he asked her to sprint it was an instant response. She ran her last 600 in better than 34.

“She’s thriving and half an hour after the race she was at home in a nice paddock.”

Another Coup, who three starts back overcame a slow start to claim the Listed Dunedin Guineas, has now won five of her 11 starts.

She is currently listed as an $18 chance for the Oaks behind the $4 favourite Savaria.

Another Coup is raced by her breeders Ray and Jill Coupland, who shared in the ownership of the 2007 Oaks winner Princess Coup.
