Enna’s Dream ready to salute

Getting first use of the Caulfield track is expected to suit Enna’s Dream.

Trainer Alex Rae does not want to see any more rain fall ahead of the Caulfield meeting.

The Cranbourne trainer expects Enna's Dream to go very close to winning the Sportsbet Photo Finish Refund Handicap (1400m) on Saturday.

The Caulfield track was rated a Soft 7 on Thursday and Enna's Dream is yet to race on a track that is that wet.

However, the daughter of Winning Rupert does hold winning form on Soft 6 ground, being successful in maiden grade at Bairnsdale last August before winning at Sandown nine days later.

One thing in Enna's Dream's favour, should the rain arrive, is Saturday's race will be the first race of the afternoon.

"One thing she does not like is really rain-affected ground, so we hope the rain stays away," Rae said.

"But she should get a relatively good surface, being race one at Caulfield on Saturday with the rail back in the true position, so hopefully there shouldn't be any excuses."

Enna's Dream has placed in each of her three starts this campaign, twice at Caulfield, while the filly finished third over 1400m at Sandown on May 25.

Following that outing, Enna's Dream was dropped back in trip when a closing second over 1200m at Caulfield on June 29.

Rae said Enna's Dream's latest effort was a super run.

"I thought she would need that run," Rae said.

"She missed some work with a bit of a bug, and she does well as she's quite a portly little filly, but I feel on Saturday that you will see the best of her since early last spring.

"She hasn't had anything go her way this campaign and she's drawn a good gate to run well."
