The Money Trail – Newcastle, March 29

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Newcastle.

Merovee (Race 1) is the first Australian runner for super horse Frankel and the punters are confident it will be a successful start, backing him in a massive seven points to $2.05 on his opening quote and the best part of a point this morning. The Waller colt has had three trials, improving to win the latest at Rosehill.

Annatime (Race 4) is now second pick in the market having more than halved her opening quote to $3.50. The Kim Waugh-trained mare has been super consistent of late with a win and three seconds from her last four starts.

Up 'n' Rolling (Race 7) has taken over as the favourite at $4 having tightened a point and a half. The Kiwi makes his Australian debut after winning his maiden before a spell and was tuned up for his return with a Rosehill trial win.

Another Aan (Race 8) has tightened his grip on favouritism for the Provincial Qualifier at $2.40, in a more than a point on the initial markets. He charged home to win at this course last start and should be peaking third up.
