The Money Trail – Echuca, September 20

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Tuesday’s meeting at Echuca.

Tennaya (Race 1) is now challenging for favouritism at $3.20 having firmed more than five points early in betting with TopBetta. The filly was well beaten at her only run in the city but spelled since, she was placed in a recent barrier trial and the money suggests she could be a big improver this time in.

Masterson (Race 4) has firmed up more than three points to $4.60 after opening well into each way odds. The Patrick Payne-trained gelding went straight to 1815m for his resuming run when a closing third so should be fitter and suited by the step up in distance at just his third career run.

Benefactor (Race 6) is a well-supported second pick in the market at $4, having shortened almost a half point. The Darren Weir-trained gelding is shooting for the hat trick today after two narrow wins and while up in grade he has proven that he can handle wet tracks.

Under God's Sky (Race 8) opened at double figure odds but is in to $5, which is six points shorter than his initial quote. He has finished down the track at his past two outings but had good form before that and the money suggests he is ready to reproduce those efforts.
