The Money Trail – Canterbury, August 31

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Canterbury.

Glenall (Race 2) has been heavily backed to make a winning debut, firming a point and is now well into the red at $1.60. The Redoute’s Choice colt hails from the Les Bridge stable and was impressive when winning his latest barrier trial by 5.5L at Randwick.

Torpenhow (Race 6) has taken over at the head of the market at $3.70 after shortening more than a point in early trading. The lightly-raced galloper resumes after scoring two wins and a second from three runs at his initial campaign and punters are looking for him to go to another level this campaign.

Pound Sterling (Race 7) opened at each way odds but has taken over as favourite at $3.60 having halved his initial price. He was outclassed when last in the Up and Coming Stakes at his latest run but this is much easier and had won his maiden at Warwick Farm when resuming.
