The Money Trail – Doomben, August 27

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Saturday’s meeting at Doomben.

One Inch Punch (Race 2) has taken over as favourite at $3.20 having shortened more than three points in early betting. He has been in terrific form this campaign scoring back to back city wins before running on for second last time and expect he is looking for the mile now.

Hanwritten (Race 4) had also been an acceptor in Sydney but has been scratched to run here and the punter believe it will be a winning move, backing him in a massive six points to $2.80 favouritism. The lightly-raced gelding has won two of his six starts and resumes off a 7.3L barrier trial win.

Monsieur Gustave (Race 6) opened at each way odds but is in to $2.90 favouritism having shortened two and a half points. He romped home by more than 9 lengths at his resuming run and the punters are banking on him continuing that form stepping up to city company.

Land Office (Race 8) opened on the verge of double figure odds but good backing has seen him more than halve his quote and he has taken over at the head of the market at $4. He was a dominant winner last start and has won both of his runs on rain-affected tracks.
