First Stakeswinner For Niagara

Niagara, the New Zealand-based sire son of Encosta De Lago, sired his first stakes winner when the NZ-Derby bound gelding X Box won the G2 Waikato Guineas at Te Rapa on Tuesday.

Trained by Graham Richardson and Gavin Parker, Xbox (Niagara x Boxapins by Pins) held on to defeat Mongolianconqueror by a short head with Time Lord third.

Xbox (NZ) (Niagara) cost $85,000 at the 2016 NZB Ready to Run Sale. He has now had eight starts for three wins, two placings and $102,150 in prizemoney.

Niagara stands at The Oaks Stud with Darci Brahma, the son of Danehill who sired his 34th stakes winner on Tuesday when the 4YO mare Darscape Princess won the Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Tauherenikau.

Darscape Princess (Darci Brahma x Cape Princess by Cape Cross) has now won her three last starts and has four wins from 10 career starts.

SHe is a half-sister to G2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes winner Sensible Princess.
