Exciting filly Imposing Lass showed why a service fee increase for her shuttle sire Makfi announced last week was well justified when she added the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet to her record on Saturday.
Imposing Lass became the eighth stakes winner for NZ-based Makfi and is now favourite to win next month’s G1 Queensland Oaks after recording her fourth win in five career starts.
Imposing Lass cost $120,000 at the 2014 NZB Karaka Premier Sale and could become the second Oaks winner of the season for Makfi after his NZ-trained daughter Sofia Rosa won the Australian Oaks at Randwick last month.
Makfi will head the stallion roster at New Zealand’s Westbury Stud in 2016 on a fee of $NZ25,000 plus GST.He is also the sre of New Zealand’s champion 2YO of last season Marky Mark.
Makfi shuttles from the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval in France and is the only second season sire in Australasia to have sired two individual G1 winners from his first southern hemisphere crop. His other progeny include the import Raw Impulse, who has won both his starts in Australia.
