Cambridge Stud has closed bookings to leading young sire Tavistock after another successful season for the classy son of Montjeu.

“He’ll be covering most of my best mares this spring,” said Cambridge Stud’s Sir Patrick Hogan.
“We’ve always had tremendous faith in him and really you can’t beat that Montjeu blood.“He was the first stallion fully booked this year. I’ve never had a stallion with his fertility but we want to look after him and 165 mares will be the limit.”
Tavistock had 53 runners in NZ last season for 18 winners of 33 races. His runners for the season in NZ alone featured four individual black type winners of seven stakes races.
Volkstok'n'barrell, a G2, G3 and Listed winner before his Rosehill Guineas success in Australia, led the way supported by Werther (G.2 winner in NZ and G2 winner in Australia), Avisto (dual Listed winner in NZ) and Tavy (Listed winner in NZ).Tavistock also ended the season as New Zealand's second leading 3YO sire behind Iffraaj, a remarkable achievement for a stallion with just the one crop of that age.
Tavistock had only 12 runners in Australia last season for seven individual winners, finishing in 12th position on the Australian second season sires list.
