The expectation that Deep Impact is ready to assume the mantle of his own sire Sunday Silence as Japan's leading classic influence was reaffirmed on Sunday when his colt Deep Brillante won the world's richest 3YO classic, the G1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby).
The Derby win by Deep Brillante (Deep Impact x Love And Bubbles by Loup Sauvage) came only a week after Deep Impact's daughter Gentildonna won the Japanese Oaks.
The Derby result underlined the influence of young Japanese sire sensation as he sired three of the first four to finish.
Deep Brillante's victory over Fenomeno (Stay Gold) capped a month in which Deep Impact sired his first European classic winner Beauty Parlour in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas), the quinella in the Japanese Oaks and sired the first four home in the G2 Kyoto Shimbun Hai at Kyoto.
So far this season, Deep Impact has sired 10 individual stakes winners and has been represented by the first two home in five stakes races. He was represented by seven of the 18 runners in the Japanese Derby.
The Yoshito Yahagi-trained Deep Brillante is from the second crop of his Triple Crown winning sire and becomes his sixth G1 winner.
Deep Impact (Sunday Silence x Wind In Her Hair) stands for 10 million yen at the Shadai Stallion Station.
Deep Brillante was purchased by Northern Farm out of the Paca Paca Farm consignment at the 2009 JRHA Select Sale.His dam Love And Bubbles, a G3 winner in France, is also the dam of the G3-placed Hubble Bubble and is a half-sister to Listed winner Jeune Dream from the family of Japan Cup runner-up That's The Plenty (Dance In The Dark).
Love And Bubbles has a yearling brother and foal sister to Deep Brillante entered for the upcoming JRHA Select Sale.
