Bold Silvano To Start Stud Career

Dubai-based multiple G1 winner Bold Silvano is returning to South Africa to stand at Ascot Stud at Port Elizabeth where he was raised.

The five-year-old is the first and most accomplished son of South Africa's leading stallion Silvano to go to stud.

Mike de Kock trained him to win the 2010 Vodacom Durban July and the Daily News 2000 before he was sent to Dubai where he won the Al Maktoum Challenge (Round 2).

"He looked smashing in Dubai this season but didn't run well, which showed us that he wasn't all that happy on the racetrack. He'll make a good stallion," De Kock said when revealing his stud plans.

Ascot Stud's Ashley Parker said it was exciting to have one of their best-loved sons returning to the farm.

"We haven't finalised syndication details yet, but we've already had a good response on shares in Bold Silvano.

"We expect him back here around June and he will start his duties in September.”

Bold Silvano raced 17 times for seven wins for owners Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and Gill Thompson.
