Leading the way was his colt from Affianced (Erins Isle), sold to agent John Clarke for a Goffs foal record of 850,000 euros on behalf of Sunderland Holdings, the Tsui family company that raced six time G1 winner Sea The Stars.

Offered by Jim Bolger's Redmondstown Stud the colt is a close relative to champion Soldier Of Fortune, a son of Sea the Stars' half-brother Galileo.

He was the third of the Sea the Stars foals to realize 800,000 euros or more at the sale as all beat the previous Goffs foal record of Ir500,000gns paid for a daughter of Golden Fleece in 1984.

The second foal produced by champion Finsceal Beo (Mr. Greeley) by Sea The Stars sold to agent John McCormack for 800,000 euros. She was bought for an undisclosed client.

Finsceal Beo won the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac at two before an amazing streak as a 3YO in the spring of 2007, winning the G1 English 1000 Guineas and the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas.

Her first foal, a yearling by Galileo, was not offered at public auction this year.

A Sea The Stars daughter of Scribonia (Danehill) was knocked down for 800,000 euros to Mertoun Paddocks. Also consigned by Redmondstown Stud, the foal is a half-sister to G1 performer Cuis Ghaire (Galileo).

Sea the Stars recorded G1 wins in succession in the the English 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby, Eclipse Stakes, Juddmonte International and Irish Champion Stakes before capping his career with a victory in the 2009 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

At the end of the three-day foal sale turnover reached €14.4 million, an increase of 42 percent on 2010.

The average of €29,079 represented a rise of 14 percent while the median was €16,000 as the clearance rate improved from 68 to 76 percent.
