Crackerjack King Starts Stud Career

The Shamardal import Crackerjack King has been retired to stand at stud in South Australia.

Crackerjack King began his career in Italy prior to an Australian spring campaign last year for Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock.

A dual winner in Italy as a juvenile, he returned at three to win the G2 Italian Derby from subsequent Arc de Triomphe heroine Danedream and then graduated to a G1 success in the Premio Presidente della Repubblica.

In Australia, he raced four times for David Hayes and Tom Dabernig with a best result being third in last year’s G1 Turnbull Stakes won by Foreteller.

Crackerjack King (Shamardal x Claba di San Jore by Barathea) is a half-brother to Italian stakes winners Jakkalberry, Awelmarduk and Kidnapping.

His younger full sister Joyful Hope was beaten a head in the G2 Italian Oaks in May.

He will stand at Oakside Park, the former home of Akhadan and Devaraja before they were transferred to Rivers End Stud in 2011
