Extraordinary Day Of Results For Bob Peters

Canny Lad mare Elite Belle capped an extraordinary day for leading owner and breeder Bob Peters at Ascot on Saturday when all four stakes races on the program were won by his horses.

“I’m so proud of her,” he said. “We’ve won three features on a day, but never four.”

Horses raced by Peters Investments also won the Listed WA St Leger (Real Love), Listed RS Crawford Stakes (Shining Knight) and Listed Starstruck Stakes (Real Charm).

Railway Stakes winner Elite Belle proved she is the best mare in WA when she added the G2 CB Cox Stakes (2100m) to her record for her third win in five starts this campaign.

Third in the G1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at her previous start, the Grant Williams-trained mare finished strongly to deny Red Blast (Universal Prince) by a neck with Bass Strait (Holy Roman Emperor) third.

“She’s a great mare, I’m very proud of her,” Peters said.

“Grant wanted to stop but I said no, we will go for this one. The weight-for-age conditions would

suit her based on her rating now that’s all she can race in.”

Elite Belle began her campaign with a win in the G3 Prince Of Wales Stakes in October and added the G1 Railway Stakes (1600m) on November 22.

The six-year-old Elite Belle (Canny Lad x Mississippi Belle by Marooned) has won $1,409,300 in prize money from 10 wins and nine placing in 25 starts.

One of 11 G1 winners by Canny Lad (Bletchingly), who died in June aged 26, Elite Belle is from Mississippi Belle, a winning half-sister to G3 winner Mogul (Serheed).

Elite Belle is one of seven named foals produced by Mississippi Belle for six winners including 11-time stakes winner Battle Emblem (Second Empire).

Mississippi Belle has a weanling colt by Pierro (Lonhro) and a filly by High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells).

Real Love took out the WA St Leger to confirm her rating as favourite for the G2 Perth Cup on January 1.

The 4YO Real Love (Desert King x Flaming Heart by Salieri) has now racked up $304,810 in prize money from four wins in only 12 starts.

The mare is a half-sister to Suspicion (Mukddaam), a G3 winner and dam of the Listed winner Morant (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Her dam, the G3 winner Flaming Heart (Salieri), has also produced G2 placed Desert Glow (Desert King) among nine winners from as many runners.

The 4YO mare Real Charm was an impressive winner of the Starstruck Classic by two and a half lengths, making it five career victories from 12 starts for $234,710 in prize money.

It was her third straight win and second consecutive Listed success after taking out the Jungle

Dawn Classic on December 6.

A Peters homebred, Real Charm is out of winning Catbird mare Purfect Size who has visited Reset in all six of her years at stud.

Real Charm is a sister to the G2 WA Derby winner Mystic Prince from the family of Jet Spur (Flying Spur).

The 6YO Shining Knight won the RS Crawford Stakes (1000m) for his second win in four starts this campaign.

Shining Knight (Blackfriars x Cool Business by Key Business) has now won six from 18 starts, and $465,650 in prize money.
