Slade Runners Slay Them

Melbourne syndicator Rob Slade celebrated one of his best days on the track with a winning treble across two states on August 27.

In Melbourne the Slade Bloodstock filly And Rock was a winner for trainer John McArdle. In Sydney Slade's talented stayer Tamanu Park broke through for Bart Cummings and at Murtoa the untapped three-year-old Moment Of Change won for Peter Moody.

The latter two were both purchased by Slade from the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale and continues a great run for the Melbourne buyer from the auction.

Other successful Slade purchases from the Perth Yearling Sale include Brockman's Lass and Time Matters.

Moment Of Change created a big impression when he almost broke the track record in cruising home under Linda Meech to win the 1200m maiden by 10 lengths.

The three-year-old is a son of Cornerstone Stud's Barely A Moment, also a Perth Yearling Sale graduate.

Slade went to $50,000 to secure Moment Of Change from the draft of Tracey Knotts' Sovereign Thoroughbreds.

Moment Of Change is the first runner for his dam, the city performed Metal Storm mare Europium who is a half sister to former classy WA galloper Mr Diagnosis.

"He's a nice horse," trainer Peter Moody said of Moment Of Change.

"He'd shown some good ability and we wanted to give him a kill in the bush and he certainly did that."

Moment Of Change will most likely have his next run in Melbourne before Moody decides if he will have a crack at the Caulfield Guineas.

Cats Fun's half brother Tamanu Park gave his Slade syndicate plenty to smile about when he broke through in Sydney for the Bart Cummings stable.

Slade purchased Tamanu Park from Dawson Stud for $100,000 at the 2008 Perth Sale.

"It was a nice win," Cummings said. "They further they go the better he goes."

The 2012 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale will be held at Belmont from February 14.
