Ten For Ten breaks maiden at Belmont

Darley shuttler Frosted (Tapit) sired his ninth winner on Friday when Ten For Ten (2 c ex Summer Vacation by Eskendereya) emphatically broke his maiden at the second time of asking over 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park.

Last seen running third over six furlongs at Saratoga on September 7, the two-year-old colt overcame horrendous conditions to surge clear to beat Officiating (Blame) by a decisive eight lengths. Constitutional Law (Tapit) finished another neck away in third.

Purchased by Courtlandt Farm for US$410,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the colt is out of unraced Eskendereya (Giant’s Causeway) mare Summer Vacation, who is herself a daughter of Grade 1 scorer Dream Of Summer (Siberian Summer).

Dream Of Summer produced five winners headed by Grade 1-winning pair Vexatious (Giant’s Causeway) and Creative Cause (Giant’s Causeway) and dual Grade 2 scorer Destin (Giant’s Causeway).

Frosted’s first-crop of runners is headed by Australian-bred Ingratiating, who landed the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (Listed, 1000m) on October 3 and he is currently covering his fourth book of mares at Darley’s Northwood Park base at fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
