14 for Zed
In winning Saturday’s Wellington Cup (Gr 3, 3200m) at Trentham, the Allan Sharrock-trained Waisake (6 g ex Kincia by Kinjite) became the 14th stakes winner for Grangewilliam Stud-based stallion Zed (Zabeel). Bought as a yearling at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Festival Yearling Sale for NZ$28,000 by his trainer from the draft of Ainsley Downs Stud, having been bought by Paul Willetts for NZ$1,100 as a foal, Waisake scored a half-length victory over Bluey’s Chance (Remind) and took his race record to six wins and four placings in 23 starts. Zed’s leading earner is his multiple Group 1 winning daughter Verry Elleegant.

15 for Power
Force Of Will (3 f ex Sade by Savabeel) took out the Desert Gold Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Trentham on Saturday to provide the Oaklands Stud-based sire Power (Oasis Dream) with his 15th stakes winner. Force Of Will, who is trained by Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott and raced by her breeder Go Bloodstock, has now won three of her four career starts. “I’m thrilled for Sir Owen as I think he has got himself a very promising filly,” O’Sullivan said. “It is a great result as the black type she picks up from the win cements her value when Sir Owen retires her to his broodmare band.” Force Of Will is the third foal out of the Savabeel (Zabeel) mare Sade and comes from an extended family that includes Melbourne Cup winner (Gr 1, 3200m) Brew (Sir Tristram), the son of multiple Group One winner Horlicks (Three Legs).

Two for Bryannbo’s Gift
The Robert Heathcote-trained Emerald Kingdom (6 g ex Horshoe by Commands) won his first stakes race in the Sunshine Coast Cup (Listed, 1400m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday becoming the second stakes winner for the late sire Bryannbo’s Gift (Zabeel).
