First stakes winner for Outreach

Turk Warrior emulates dam and wins Elwick Stakes providing a timely update for his half-brother

Widden Stud’s Outreach (Exceed And Excel) sired his first stakes winner when Turk Warrior (2 g ex Ehor by Val Royal) won the Elwick Stakes (Listed 1100m) at Hobart on Sunday. Turk Warrior, who remains undefeated from two starts, overcame greenness in the straight to draw away to a convincing length and three quarters victory.

The gelding is one of five winners out of Ehor (Val Royal) who won the Elwick Stakes in 2007. 

Turk Warrior was passed in for $24,000 with a reserve of $30,000 at the 2020 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, his half-brother by Zululand (Fastnet Rock) is catalogued as Lot 106 at this year's sale. 

Outreach, who stood for a fee of $5,000 in 2020, is the sire of 16 winners to date.
