Son of Mamool dies in a freak paddock accident at Leneva Park .

Lucas Cranach (Mamool) has died in a freak paddock accident at Victorian-based Leneva Park. The German-bred son of Mamool (In The Wings) won six of his 12 career starts including two at Group 3 level and also ran third in the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) in 2011. 

He stood his first season at stud in 2013 and has covered 440 mares over the last seven seasons. He was standing his first season at Leneva Park having been based previously at  Bullarook Park and his fee was advertised at $5,500 (inc GST). 

To date, Lucas Cranach has sired 44 winners who have won 99 races and earnt over $3 million in prize money.
