Xtravagant to stand for reduced fee

Son of Pentire’s fee cut down to reflect current climate.

Xtravagant (Pentire) will stand at Newhaven Park for a reduced fee of $11,000 (inc GST) in 2020.

The stallion - who stood for $16,500 (inc GST) last year - enters his fourth season at stud and John Kelly believes that the 30 per cent reduction in his fee is reflective of the uncertain economic times and allows breeders to breed to a multiple Group 1 winner at a fee where there is scope to make a profit.

The son of Pentire's (Be My Guest) had 39 yearlings sell for an aggregate of $2,754,272 at an average of $70,622, with Te Akau's David Ellis paying $270,000 for filly by the sire, which was the most expensive of his progeny to sell in 2020.

Xtravagant's first runners will hit the track next season.
