Sun Stud first-season sire Ready For Victory (More Than Ready) was provided with his first winner on Saturday as the Gerald Ryan-trained Macleay (2 c ex Moon Fighter by Malibu Moon) landed the TC Tom Thumbs Lagoon Maiden 2YO Handicap (1400m) at Kembla Grange.

Having his first career start, the colt missed the start by two lengths, but had no issues making up the deficit and was eventually able to skip away from his rivals to beat Black Bolt (Savabeel) by half a length with another two lengths back to Diorissima (Tapit) in third.

Purchased by his trainer for $70,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the Sun Stud draft, the colt is out of unraced Malibu Moon (A.P.Indy) mare Moon Fighter, who is herself out of US Listed winner Homerette (Grand Slam), making her a half-sister to the dam of Listed winner Substitution (Alternation).

Further afield this is the family of Listed-winning trio Dulce De Leche (Distant View), Banrock (Go For Gin) and Finlandia (Royal Anthem).

In 2019 Moon Fighter produced a filly by the Sun Stud stallion and has most recently been covered by the son of More Than Ready (Southern Halo) again.

Ready For Victory stood for a fee of $6,600 (inc GST) in 2019.
