17th Group winner for Lord Kanaloa

Shadai Farm-bred Red Le Zele wins the Negishi Stakes in Tokyo

Lord Kanaloa.

Red Le Zele (5 h ex French Noir by French Deputy) won Sunday’s Negishi Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) in Tokyo handing Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha) his 17th Group winner.

The five-year-old entire jumped well and settled midfield on the rail. On straightening he made his move between runners and did enough to beat Wonder Lider (Statue Of Liberty), who came from last at the turn, by a head with another half a length back to Time Flyer (Heart’s Cry) in third.

Red le Zele is the only stakes winner in three generations. He is out of the four-time winning French Deputy (Deputy Minister) mare French Noir who has produced two other winners while his second dam, Purple White (Fuji Kiseki), produced five winners from six foals to race.

Lord Kanaloa has two lots for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale which will be held at Riverside Stables on April 6 - 7. His stakes winners are headed by five Group / Grade 1 winners including Almond Eye and Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Tagaloa.
