ROSEHILL June 15

Best Bets

RACE 4: (2) PERFECT PLAY – Progressive import has made his mark with two strong placings in this class since starting his Australian career. With his best UK form up to 2400m he should relish stepping up in trip from his luckless Scone third over 1700m where he dropped back in distance from his first-up placing over 1800m. Probably wins last time if he had secured clear running over the last 250m and sure to be fitter for it.

RACE 5 (8) HOW DARE YOU: Smart Zoustar filly was too good for her rivals first-up over 1300m at the Scone carnival, delivering a soft win at short odds. She has backed that up with an impressive trial effort that ensures she is ready to tackle this class and distance.

RACE 9: (6) FRANZ JOSEF – Impressive Snitzel gelding made it three wins from his first four starts with a dominant second up score over this course and distance under 58kg. A positive ride saw him take control from a wide gate and find plenty when challenged and he is well placed to repeat as he stays on the same weight and can dictate again from a low draw.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 1: (4) SWIFT FALCON - Strong Randwick placing over 1200m when a month between runs. Improver over this trip on his home track.

RACE 2: (14) GLENBOWER – Posted strong figures in his Impressive first-up maiden win. Capable of jumping classes.

RACE 3: (2) KNOW THYSELF - Should have won first-up under 60kg. Sure to appreciate bigger track and distance from rails draw.

RACE 6: (9) AMATI - Best work late when resuming in similar company. Well placed to improve.

RACE 7: (5) HANAU - Out of the money only once in six starts. Strong trials indicate he is set to add to that record.

RACE 8: (2) HOPEFUL - Luckless second over 2000m last Saturday when charging late. Only has to hold that form to win this.

RACE 10: (14) STEP ASIDE - Good trials have him ready. Stable has been patient waiting for right conditions.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM June 7 (Poly): Well performed gelding TESTATOR SILENS disappointed when resuming but can turn that form around quickly after winning his 740m heat with authority (43.25; 32.85). Shared the lead on the outside of WILD BOTANICA and was always travelling the better to gain the upper hand in the drive to the line with both horses having something in reserve.

HAWKESBURY June 3: HOW DARE YOU was an impressive winner at the Scone carnival and showed he was ready to go on with it with a surging finish in his 1000m heat (60.35; 33.68). Travelled midfield and always under a tight hold as he worked home between horses with his best work through the line. Among other impressive triallers were the good class performers RAZORS, PETREILLE, BANANA QUEEN and HANAU.

RANDWICK May 31: Good things ahead for promising filly MERCHANT LADY. A lovely second in her 1050m heat (63.49; 34.51) in her first trial since February when she had her first two starts for a Gosford win and Canterbury placing. Worked easily from start to finish without being under any pressure to hold her ground. A nice placing in an open heat from the well performed C'EST MAGIQUE in her first trial for Chris Waller following a stable change.

ROSEHILL May 17: STEP ASIDE is set for a good campaign after strong work to win his 900m heat with plenty in reserve (56.83; 35.87). Travelled wide before closing on the lead and doing it easily under a good hold.

RANDWICK May 16: The fastest 900m heat (54.45; 34.93) featured nice work from the experienced winner HANAU.
