ROSEHILL SATURDAY

RACE 3 (3) CAUTHEN’S POWER: Progressive three-year-old has been given a precise build up to this distance by Chris Waller, topped off by his last start third over 1800m at this course when he was ran home hard in the fastest final 200m sectional. There is not a lot of substance to this race and he should prove a worthy match for the well performed topweight from Victoria with the advantage of racing on his home track.

RACE 5: (7) QUEEN OF KARIBA: Has really found her form this preparation with two excellent midweek wins over 1250m at Canterbury when she has powered home over the top of her rivals running fast closing sectionals. She’s now won four of her 11 starts and is going to be hard to hold out again as there looks to be sufficient pace in this field to suit her closing sprint, especially as she drops a handy 4kg on her latest win and will be carrying 1kg under the limit with the advantage of Winona Costin’s claim.

RACE 6: (8) ROCKALONG: UK import recorded his first Australian win when he let down with an impressive sprint from the rear to score a soft win over 1350m at this course on June 13. It was just his third start for Newcastle trainer Paul Perry and his form in the UK where he recorded three wins and five placings up to 2000m indicates he will relish the step up in distance. There’s ample improvement in this gelding and Perry is the right trainer to get the best out of him.
