ROSEHILL SATURDAY

RACE 4: (8) MECIR - Unbeaten Lonhro gelding is set to take the next step in a promising career after two starts both sides of a spell have produced impressive 1100m wins at Canterbury. Made quite an impression when he resumed on May 23, sweeping home from last under 58kg in the style of a horse certain to appreciate this extra distance on his bigger home track. While both wins have been on good surfaces he has done more than enough in his trials on slow and heavy tracks to erase doubts about his ability in soft ground and the handy 2.5kg drop in weight should be enough to counter the rise in class.

RACE 6: (4) FLIGHT OF PEGASUS - He's won only once in eight starts but he was Group 2 placed at only his second start and his record doesn't reflect the quality of the races he has contested or the merit of some of his performances in much better class than he meets here. He comes into this 1500m event at the right stage of his preparation after two trials and two solid conditioning races over shorter trips when he has worked to the line well. Those efforts point him to being an excellent value chance in this open race.

RACE 7: (11) DUNROSSIL - Came off two Melbourne runs to finish a creditable third over 1400m at Rosehill last Saturday to add to a good record at this course in this distance range. His profile shows that he performs well when backing up in seven days and is well drawn to play a big hand in this similar class with his definite liking for soft going and obvious scope for improvement.
