The Money Trail – Sandown, June 28

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Sandown.

Holy Blade (Race 1) has tightened his grip on favouritism at $2.20 having shortened 70 cents this morning. He was impressive in winning on debut and there is confidence he can repeat the dose.

Holy Seal (Race 2) opened as equal favourite but now clearly stands alone at the head of the market at $2.90, the best part of two points shorter than her first price. The progressive filly has won her past two starts and the market push suggests she is primed to complete the hat trick.

Alma's Rossa (Race 4) is a firming favourite at $3.90, which is 60 cents shorter than her opening quote. She was a big improver when third at Flemington last start and should be ready to peak third up.

Yogi (Race 5) is in to an odds-on quote at $1.95 having tightened 30 cents since markets opened. He was a strong winner last start and should only be improved again third up.

Whirlpool (Race 6) is now second pick in the market at $4.20, more than three points shorter than her opening each way price. She made it two wins from four runs this campaign when scoring at Wangaratta last time and the longer journey may suit even better.

Removal (Race 7) has halved his opening price to $5 so could be worth an each way ticket. He drops back in grade from Flemington last start and had won his two previous runs at this distance.
