The William Haggas-trained Tiber Flow put an unfortunate fall at York behind him when landing the Group 3 John of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock on Saturday.

There were scenes of jubilation on the Rowley Mile when Matilda Picotte provided her trainer Kieran Cotter, with the biggest success in his career to date by claiming Group 2 honours in the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards Challenge Stakes at Newmarket.

John and Thady Gosden’s Audience (14/1) made his return to the track worthwhile when producing an all-the-way win in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes.

Japan is well represented in this race with four of the eleven starters. Christophe Lemaire, who rode four Group winners at this meeting last year, is again aboard Songline, the defending champion.

Songline will spearhead a strong Japanese challenge at the Saudi Cup meeting this weekend, with jockey Christophe Lemaire confident she can retain her 1351 Turf Sprint title.
