Starting in Northamptonshire and places in next week's £10,000 final are up for grabs for some of the UK's fastest pups and Roy Peckham's Winscale Wonder (2.52) can strike in the second semi-final.

He won well in last week's heats and, having drawn in the weakest of the three semis, has every chance to dominate into the first bend and ensure at least one British-bred has a crack at the Category One decider.

Maxine Locke has a strong hand in the event, especially in the first semi-final.

Her Ballymac Kobe will garner most support after his romp in the heats seven days ago but needs to break from the inside, which means kennelmate Ballymac Blanco (2.16) could be the value bet.

He caught the eye himself when winning his heat and could break in front from this midfield slot and he has real scope for better, too.

Paul Young's up-and-coming Bombay Birch (3.29) gets the vote in the third semi. Another progressive sort, his all-round pace will be tough to hold.

Other Towcester fancies are Patrick Janssens' Romeo Control (3.11) on his UK debut given some decent Irish lines, plus expect Liz McNair's classy pair of Queen Georgia (4.44) and King Capaldi (3.49) to get back on the winning trail given both run Towcester well.

Richard Rees's up-in-trip Starshinestunner (4.07) might now have the room to run her race, while Sean White's Broadway Murty (5.21) is back to the scene of his Northamptonshire Sprint success and could be tough to hold.

Crayford continues with its double header of the Jay & Kay Coach Tours Gold Collar and Ladbrokes Grand National - and John Mullins looks to have a major hand in the first semi-final of the Gold Collar.

Mullins sends out both Aayamza Sydney and Wrighty (6.42) here up against the Oaks runner-up Icemans Girl and, with the start absolutely crucial, the latter has the start and the early pace to get away and might need catching - at a price.

The votes in the other Gold Collar semis go to Ricky Holloway's Slick Sabo (7.33) who might have the draw inside to slip clear against the likes of Bangon The Clock and Maxine Locke's mutilple big-race finalist Droopys Eunice (8.24) who is due a break in the third semi.

The Grand National is dominated by Ricky Holloway-trained runners with the winningmost trainer in the event's history having eight of the 12 semi-finalists.

However, Barry O'Sullivan's Traceys Sydney (6.59) was impressive in the heats and could escape the pack, while an all-Holloway second semi can see the early pace of super-quick Harlequin Ernie (7.49) see him dominate from the get-go.
