Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 18.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Taree, Pakenham, Moe, Ipswich, Canberra and Launceston.
TAREE: RACE 2 @ 1:35 PM
EVERLASTING KISS (6) worked home well but was never a threat when resuming from a spell for a new stable in a Class 1 over 1850m at Newcastle last start. Won over 2400m in Victoria last prep so this trip is ideal second-up. Down in grade and looks the testing material. BRIEF SONG (5) was ridden closer to the pace and battled on well for third last time out over 2200m at Scone. Very fit after three runs back from a spell and looks ready to win. LE SOUCI (7) comes here off a maiden win in a Class 1 at Canberra three weeks back. Goes up sharply in weight but still a contender. IN ISO (1) edged out Brief Song for second place at Scone two back. Chance if he rediscovers that form. WICKED GAMES (4) absolutely bolted in at Kempsey last start. Yet to fill a placing in five runs at Taree which is the query.
SELECTIONS: Backing Everlasting Kiss.

PAKENHAM: RACE 9 @ 9:45 PM
ILLATIVE (5) has always had a big boom on her and maybe hasn't quite delivered, but she's got ability and ran well enough fresh without winning at Geelong, finishing second as a $1.80 favourite. She did have some slight issues there too and getting to Pakenham where she won her maiden, she should prove hard to beat. TIZ TIME (4) is lightly raced and progressive and did beat a good one here last year. SAUFIANA (7) was okay fresh and will be fitter. Can figure in the finish. CAPRICORN STAR (11) resumes and must be respected fresh.
SELECTIONS: Illative to win.
MOE: RACE 2 @ 1:10 PM
HONEY MAKER (7) had an excuse for a poor effort at Cranbourne just over 6 weeks ago. She was building nicely before that and is worth another chance. Each-way. TRANSACTIONS (1) has been fourth in both of her starts to date and her last run was in a stronger field at The Valley a fortnight ago. She is peaking at the right time and will be hard to hold out in this. DOUBLE PI (5) battled away gamely to finish sixth on debut and will only improve with that experience under her belt. Stick with her from a handy draw. POINT BE (10) and MRS ARCHIBALD (9) are both worth including in all combinations.
SELECTIONS: Honey Maker to win.
IPSWICH: RACE 1 @ 2:24 PM
LOOK IT'S LUCY (9) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing in five of eight overall and strikes a winnable contest here. Has placed over this track and trip and is drawn to get a gun run in transit from gate two. Rates the testing material while fresh. BOARD MEMBER (7) resumes here but showed enough in her first preparation to warrant consideration in a race like this. Draws the inside marble and gets some weight relief with the claim. Looms as the main danger. Former Victorian JEROBI (3) is first-up for the new stable and any market confidence must be noted. The well-related GILIANA (8) (half to G3 winner and G2 placed Garibaldi) gets the deadly Gollan/Jones combination and cannot be discounted. Former NSW galloper SO YES IT IS (5) looked handy winning a recent trial and should find this easier than what he faced down south. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Look It's Lucy each-way.
CANBERRA: RACE 5 @ 3:43 PM
LAUREL HILL (6) has been racing well in stronger class and didn't miss by far in an 82 at Dubbo last time. Has her first start over a mile and the in-form Heywood rides for the first time. Can tip out the favourite. LOUIE'S LEGACY (3) led and won easily here this grade/trip and then improved again belting the Open graders at Cootamundra by 4.3L. He will likely control the race from the rails gate and has a handy 2kg claim. Feared. HEIR JORDAN (8) has weight relief off a 1L defeat at Moruya this trip. Finally draws an inside barrier and his peaks stack right up. Will get every chance. SPITFIRE (1) had been tracking well before a couple of plain runs at Kembla Grange. The latest was over 2000m and this contest suits better. Has a handy 3kg claim and deserves consideration. PRETTY EYED (7) and OFFSPRING (6) are in Canberra's premier stable and no surprise if they show more.
SELECTIONS: Going with Laurel Hill.
LAUNCESTON: RACE 8 @ 9:30 PM
KENSINGTON DIVA (5) switched from a Victorian barn and hit the line hard beaten just 1.5L. It was a tough effort from the wide barrier and she will be better for the outing. She's likely to sit handier today and looks well-placed. DAY PERFORMER (7) missed a nose at Hobart first-up spiking her figures. Looks to have turned the corner and Pires is a positive replacement for Baker, who sticks with Kensington Diva. Has the early speed to clear the awkward barrier and will be fitter. CREATIVE LICENCE (1) resumes in easier and should be ready to go. Races forward and enjoys the track and trip. DID YOU DECIDE (2) resumes and is better than the form line suggests. Flies fresh but will need a good ride from the awkward barrier.
SELECTIONS: Backing Kensington Diva to win.
