The prize money for the Rosehill feature together with the fact that it accepts geldings has enticed four raiders to come from Japan, France and England.
While the race is for 4yos the raiders are all Northern Hemisphere bred 3os which counts as 4yo here.
Ascoli Piceno is a 3yo Japanese filly named after a beautiful city/province in Italy and Joao Moreira will ride her. She did a very smart work out on Wednesday and is by Daiwa Major whose son Double Major won the Royal Oak at St Cloude last Sunda, the last Group race in France. She scored a big win in the G3 Keisei Hai at Nakayama over 1600m so the trip should be no problem. She also has two good seconds in the G1s Oka Sho and NHK Mile.
Lazzat is from Flying Start graduate Jerome Reynier's yard in Chantilly. He's a 3yo gelding who is unbeaten in 5 starts including the Maurice de Gheest at Deauville. Antonio Orani is coming to ride him.
Lake Forrest is a 3yo colt by No Nay Never with William Haggas and Cieren Fallon will ride. Not the worst and seems to have been working well so 16/1 could be generous.
The other Japanese runner is Corazon Beat, a 3yo filly by Suave Richard. She hasn't yet shown enough to encourage us to part with the hard-earned as she's 50/1.
