The list of Singapore nominations for the Group 1 Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m) on May 18 has been boosted with the addition of City Lad.
Prepared by trainer Desmond Koh, City Lad is a five-time winner over distances ranging between 1200m and 1600m, but is probably better remembered for his two second placings at Group 1 level, namely in last year’s Patron’s Bowl (1600m) and Panasonic Kranji Mile (1600m).
The Elusive City five-year-old ran a closing fourth in the Group 2 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (2000m) won by Wild Geese last Sunday.
The QEII Cup is widely regarded as the key local lead-up to the SIA Cup which is looking particularly strong in 2014 with the likes of last years winner Military Attack and South African globetrotter Vercingetorix expected to line up in the internationally recognised showpiece.
