Bayu Well Placed To Go Back To Back

The Stephen Gray trained Bayu broke through for a deserved maiden win last start and appears well placed to go back-to-back in the final event at Singapore this evening.

Only lightly raced the son of Per Incanto has improved with each start culminating with a victory at this course and distance last start.

Yet to miss the money in four attempts, Bayu really impressed in the concluding stages, when surging late to deny the Michael Clements trained Leon.

Although only saluting by half a length, there was a further four lengths back to third and expect that form to measure right up.

It is never easy for horses to make the rise from maiden company to Class 4, however Bayu is clearly a horse heading in the right direction.

The much in-form Danny Beasley sticks aboard and has plenty of options from the wide draw.

Quite vesatile, Beasley can either elect to ride Bayu aggressively or simply let him find his feet just off-midfield.

Bayu's closing sectionals last start were quite impressive and a repeat should see him right in the finish.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he appears well placed following his last start maiden win.

Given Bayu remains open to further improvement at just his fifth start, Bayu should prove hard to beat.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Star Genius is forced to give weight away to all of her rivals, however she still remains under strong notice.

A winner of two of her 13 starts, Star Genius has also placed on a further nine occasions and notably went into the paddock in good form.

While clearly no match for Lim's Sprint at her last start, there is no knock on that performance and she has since trialled well off a break.

Star Genius has placed at her only other previous first up attempt and gets in well at the weights after the claim.

She has never missed the money over this trip and if up to her best, she is sure to make her presence felt.

Stablemate Jubilation hasn't done a lot of winning (3/24), but has placed on a further eight occasions and has performed well fresh in the past.

From the good draw he looks to receive all the favours and with two trials under his belt, he is more than capable of sprinting well fresh.

Of the rest the Laurie Laxon trained Mr Scorsese appears the next in line as he is more than capable when right.

Although failing to really fire a shot in recent performances, he rates highly on best form and the engagement of Manoel Nunes is a good push.

He has won second up previously and is worth keeping safe despite the wide draw.

Good luck and happy punting.
