Conilad Well Placed To Go Back To Back

Debut winner Conilad appears well placed to notch up back to back wins when due to contest the final event in Singapore this evening.

Formerly based in Australia, Conilad placed in all three attempts under the care of Liam Birchley.

Displaying good ability on each occasion Conilad was transferred to David Kok's care mid-way through last year.

Unseen for 10 months, Conilad was given two solid trials prior to making his Singapore debut late last month.

Well supported in the 1100m event, Conilad simply proved too sharp for his rivals when overcoming a wide run in transit to score by close to two lengths.

Ridden by Danny Beasley, Conilad displayed a real sharp turn of foot and with five-and-a-half lengths back to third it appears a strong piece of form moving forward.

On prior best form Conilad still has a fair bit of improvement up his sleeve and given he is only lightly raced he looks capable of taking that next step.

With 30 days between runs Conilad has since trialled well finishing third behind Singapore Guineas participant Magstock.

Under a good hold Conilad went to the line under his own steam and should be in good order for this evening's contest.

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Glen Boss links aboard for the first time and should look to adopt a forward position from the awkward draw.

On debut he showed enough tactical speed to overcome this hindrance and over 1000m it is easier for horses to sit wide if required.

The Laurie Laxon trained Helen and John O'Hara trained Satellite Power appear the other likely front-runners, though in truth there doesn't look to be a great deal of speed engaged.

If able to cross and dictate from the outset, Conilad should be left with plenty in the locker and prove very hard to run down in the straight.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings Conilad's latest victory leaves him well placed and if able to springboard off that mark he looks to set a decent standard.

A narrow defeat first up leaves Helen as one of the main dangers as while she hasn't done a lot of winning (2/16) she is more than capable on best form.

Both her career victories have come at this course and distance and from the good draw she looks to receive all the favours on-speed.

Helen's best form has always been achieved on the polytrack and while she did mix her form last time in her first up effort suggests she can measure right up.

The Mark Walker trained Court Case hasn't been the most consistent but is another who is more than capable when right.

Drawn out Rizuan Shafiq will need to weave a bit of magic however if able to slot in he shouldn't be too far away.

On career best form he rates well and if able to run up to that level of performance he has to be respected.

Of the rest the David Hill trained Golden Casino appears the next in line following a solid performance behind Street Taipan last start.

While unable to fill the placings he wasn't disgraced and the sharp drop back in trip should suit.

He has placed in two of four attempts at this track and from the inside draw he shouldn't be too far away.

Good luck and happy punting.
