Inner Circle Finds Right Race

Inner Circle is shaping as a great each way proposition in Race 4 at Canterbury on Wednesday.

The John O’Shea-trained colt was placed on resuming at this course before folding badly when attempting to make all in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes which was subsequently won by stablemate Shards.

He overraced badly on that occasion and the suicidal tempo he set meant the colt was never going to have much left in the tank late.

11 days later, Inner Circle drops in both class and distance for the Schweppes Benchmark 65 Handicap (1100m).

The fourth event of the day at Canterbury will be the easiest assignment Inner Circle has contested in some time, if not the easiest.

Therefore, the each way odds about the colt as of Wednesday morning have obvious appeal.

Inner Circle will again go forward under the guidance Hugh Bowman.

The son of Street Cry has speed to burn and it will be interesting to see how Bowman utilises the colt’s trademark early pace.

It is shaping as a most suitable race for the colt who will take plenty of catching.

The each way odds available about Inner Circle are there because of talented Canberra-trained sprinter Beau Tirage.

The Keith Dryden-trained runner has won both starts this campaign by a combined margin of 8.8 lengths.

He will strip fitter again third run from a spell and while this is his toughest career assignment to date, the son of Dane Shadow warrants consideration.

Expect the gelding to be prominent throughout and be fighting out the finish.

Shahrazad produced an eye catching effort when rattling home for second at this course, class and distance a fortnight ago.

Watch for her to produce something similar here.

While all three have winning claims, Inner Circle at the each way odds is the one who possesses the most appeal in the Schweppes Benchmark 65 Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury on Thursday.
