Snowden Fillies To Be Magic At Canterbury

Magic Diamond is the main beneficiary of key scratchings in the TAB Rewards Handicap.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly resumes in a field of 11 after scratchings of Mesa and Montauk who were each expected to be prominent in betting for the TAB Rewards Handicap (1100m).

In their absence, Magic Diamond appears hard to beat in the second event of the day.

The Not A Single Doubt filly resumes following a three start maiden campaign where she held her own at stakes level, finishing a 1.5 length fourth in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) behind the John O’Shea-trained Furnaces.

It is a strong form line and she appears well suited here, particularly after a trial in readiness where the filly won in particularly eye catching fashion.

From barrier 9, in form apprentice Winona Costin should roll forward and be prominent.

If allowed to get across without using too much petrol, she looks hard to hold out late.

Of those left in the field with disclosed form, there isn’t anything who can challenge Magic Diamond off her second and third career starts.

Magic Diamond’s stablemate Typecast shapes as a main danger.

The filly ran third on debut to the dual Group 1 placegetter Lake Geneva.

It has the potential to be a particularly strong provincial maiden moving forward and Typecast more than held her own in it.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel will have taken both valuable race experience and fitness from the outing and appears more than capable of upstaging her stablemate.

The Gerald Ryan-trained debutant Deploy is worth some thought having won each of his career trials to date.

A wide barrier hurts on debut however Deploy has shown good gate speed which may allow the colt to roll across and find the front.

The other possibility is Magic Diamond towing the colt across.

Grande Castagno ran second when attempting to make all at Wyong last start.

This is a step up in grade for the Big Brown colt but he at least possesses both race experience and fitness over a number of his rivals in this.

Lastly, Once Were Warriors trialled well over 1045m at Randwick earlier this month.

It was an encouraging display and the son of Sebring has drawn well in barrier 3 for his debut.

Magic Diamond has the most appeal however in the TAB Rewards Maiden Handicap.
