Jacakaizane will look to add the Moruya Town Plate to his Narooma equivalent when he steps out in the seventh at the South Coast course this afternoon.
Jacakaizane is three from five on his home track at Moruya and steps out in search of the Town Plate this afternoon, a race that he has no doubt been targeted towards.
Things have gone to plan so far. He was rock solid first up, settling well back in the field at Canberra, before running on to finish midfield but just 2.5 lengths away, over 1000m.
That race has since produced four winners, of which Jacakaizane was one.
There he stepped out back on his home track in the Narooma Town Plate, settling much closer in the field of nine and showing a nice turn of foot when it was required to put the race away without too much fuss.
He won by 1.5 lengths with something up his sleeve. A very tidy performance leading up to today.
That was a clear new peak on Racing And Sports Ratings and it is the highest rated last start performance coming into today's race.
There is plenty of promise of more to come as well.
Jacakaizane has only gotten to a third up run once in the past and there was a dominant winner, again on his home track, beating a couple of subsequent winners.
Another positive for his chances today is his ability to handle all going.
That previous third up win came on slow ground and he was again a winner of soft ground last time out.
Proven soft ground performers are expected to be suited today with rain in the area and the track currently in the soft range.
The big threat today comes from the always respected Bede Murray stable who saddle Gold Horizon.
Gold Horizon has come up short in town at his latest couple but things didn't really work out for him in either of those runs and he was a good winner of his first two starts this time in.
He was far too good at Kembla Grange first up, leading all the way to win cosily on the line in what has proven a solid form race.
Again he was positive in running second up, kicking strongly from up on the speed and beating the useful Bag Of Nickels on heavy ground at Canberra.
That ability to handle all going can be to the fore today and there is also the fact that he has shown the ability last campaign to perform at the level that will be required today.
Doubtful Miss has a very similar profile, winning three back before a couple of well beaten runs in town leading in to today.
She will put herself up on the speed along with Gold Horizon and can give a big sight.
El Toronado is a last start winner at Canberra but he's on trial at the trip and with those key chances expected to be positive early and the potentially soft ground this could be a testing 1435m.
