Progressive filly Illusion Of Light appears well placed to make a winning return when she resumes in the second race at Belmont this afternoon.
Having only been seen six times previously at the races the daughter of Husson Lightning has proven quite impressive having only missed the money on one occasion including two wins.
Most notably her performance to finish a narrow second behind the talented War Prince prior to a spell reads very well for this affair and sees her rated five pounds clear of her nearest rival.
Adding to that Lark Hill based trainer David Harrison has elected to engage apprentice rider Renee Forrest which will see her carry 57kg just three kilograms above the minimum.
A noted front runner expect Illusion Of Light to roll forward from the inside draw and dictate the speed in front with her stablemate Madam Sass and the Collin Webster trained Forseen also expected to race up on the speed.
The fact she doesn't come into this race with a trial under her belt posts little concerns as she has not been seen at the public trials since her maiden two-year-old campaign and no doubt Harrison will have poured the work into her.
Having proven herself in open three-year-old company last time in see's her extremely well placed back in mid-week company and expect her to win this and go on to bigger and better things this time in.
The Brett Pope trained Quokka appears her biggest threat as she has continued to show good improvement with each career start.
Making her debut behind exciting prospect Smoko back in May the daughter of Hurricane Sky would go on to break her maiden status at her second start before finishing a game second behind the talented Magnifisio last start.
Proven to be race fit now she is expected to settle just off the speed and if Illusion Of Light proves to have any chinks in her armour expect Quokka to be there ready to pounce.
The Neville Parnham trained Zenergy should take benefit from the drop back in grade this afternoon and is expected to be right at his peak racing third up.
Another galloper who is only lightly raced it is clear he is open to further improvement and is expected to make his presence felt from the good draw.
