Caviar Demolishes Opposition

Unbeaten world champion sprinter Black Caviar monstered her opposition into submission at Moonee Valley last Saturday taking the Group 2 Schweppes Stakes (1200m) in effortless fashion.

The victory stretched her winning record to 15, equalling the deeds of former greats such as Bernborough and Carbine but still three short of Ajax who sits atop of the list for the most consecutive wins on metropolitan tracks in Australian racing history.

Such is the domination of Black Caviar that just three rivals could be mustered to compete against her on Saturday but in the end it was left to her stablemate Doubtful Jack to chase her home some six lengths arrears.

Saturday's six length winning margin was equal to her previous biggest registered at her second race start in the Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield.

The rating analysis for the race suggested a Timeform rating of 133+, equal to her first up win in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield a fortnight ago. And like that race she was nowhere near her top winning eased down.

It is always hard to estimate just how much more there is to give in such circumstances but in this case it seems a formality that her 135 master Timeform rating will be exceeded whenever she is next forced to exert herself to any degree.

Both undefeated, comparisons are already been made between Black Caviar and Frankel. In terms of ratings, Frankel currently sits on 143, the fourth highest Timeform rated horse of all time whereas Black Caviar is 135, the second highest rated female sprinter of all time.

Black Caviar in 15 race starts has won by an accumulated winning margin of 51.9 lengths or an average of 3.46 lengths per win, the biggest winning margin being six lengths.

Frankel in nine race starts has an accumulated winning margin of 45.6 lengths or an average of 5.06 lengths per win, the biggest winning margin being 13 lengths at just his second race start.

Black Caviar has won six Group 1 races and Frankel five.

Black Caviar is scheduled to have two more starts this preparation, her next in Melbourne in the Group 1 Patinack Stakes down the straight 1200m at Flemington then possibly to Perth for the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes before being prepared for the Autumn and possible overseas trip.
