Pakistan are looking for a new white-ball captain after Babar Azam resigned for a second time in order to focus on his batting.

The 29-year-old stepped down as skipper in all formats in November 2023 but was reappointed white-ball captain in March.

Babar, whose side failed to progress from the T20 World Cup group stage in June, posted on X: "It's been an honour to lead this team but it's time for me to step down and focus on my playing role.

"Captaincy has been a rewarding experience, but it's added a significant workload. I want to prioritise my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend quality time with my family, which brings me joy.

"By stepping down, I will gain clarity moving forward and focus more energy on my game and personal growth."

Babar is part of the Pakistan squad set to face England in a three-Test series which gets under way in Multan on October 7.
